  San Carlos - Sea of Cortez

Minutes away from the port city of Guaymas and its International Airport, San Carlos resort atmosphere offers great diving and relaxation in and on the Sea of Cortez.  Rated number 7 in the world by Skin Diver Magazine, the diversity of marine life is extraordinary.  The diving ranges from Isla San Pedro Nolasco (Seal Island) where you dive with the sea lions, to the Sea Mounts just outside the harbor of the San Carlos Marina.  San Pedro wreck alley features two wreck dives, a 350 foot ferry and a 120 foot tuna trawler.  Other activities are kayaking, golf, bike riding, sailing, jet skies, horseback riding, ecology hiking, whale watching, dining and night-clubbing.

Hotel Reservations

 Sea of Cortez scuba Center has set the standard on great diving in the Sea of Cortez.   Imagine plenty of pristine dive sites,7 Dive boats to get you to the sites fast and safely.  We specialize in small intimate group dives. No cattle boat operation for us. This provides you with an intimate trip experience for you and your group.  This type of diving of course costs more than what you see in the cattle boat operations. We cannot compete with there price but we offer privacy and flexibility. Our dive day is not scheduled it just happens. This allows you for comfortable relaxed surface intervals and safer diving. The additional cost is well worth it.!!

 


2 or 3  tank boat dives with a knowledgeable captain that briefs you on each site. Scenic beaches, semi-tropical seas with warm, crystal clear waters and an incredible kaleidoscope of underwater life. 

We have charted 100 dive sites that only we know about.  Only our divers get an opportunity to explore the Sea of Cortez like this.  We have had clients come back from the Caribbean and Hawaii and tell us that our sites are better, and they are!  We're proud to announce two pristine wrecks that we dive on.  One is a 350 foot ferry, ideal for your wreck dive specialty and the other is 120 foot tuna trawler.  Both are exciting dives.  Each wreck lies in only 65 feet of water for easy diving and penetration.

Refunds and Cancellations

Please Note: There is a $100.00 non-refundable individual diver deposit on all of the above trips.   Payment in full is required no later than 15 days prior to trip departure.  The $100.00 deposit is non-refundable but may be transferred to a later trip date if cancelled more than 15 days prior to the trip departure.  Cancellation between 8 and 15 days will receive ½ refund of balance on paid in full trip.  Cancellation within 7 days of the trip departure in non-refundable.  Sea of Cortez Scuba Center may extend a transfer to a later date as it is not our policy to take your money without services rendered.  It is necessary to have these policies to insure hotel reservations and to meet all boat and staffing requirements.  Your cooperation is appreciated.

  Trip Info

• If flying we will pick you up at the Airport.  You may purchase Pesos at the airport.
• If driving bring a bagged lunch for the trip down including a drink.
• Passport or notarized copy of your birth certificate. 
• If driving purchase Mexico insurance and have your registration and car title with you for permits.
• Wide brimmed hat & sunscreen (36SPF) Bullfrog is available at our store.
• Flashlight:  We recommend a dive light as they are waterproof and can be used for night diving and snorkeling.
• Warm outer clothes (winter months).
• Pesos: We recommend you exchange $200.00 and drivers at least $300.00 exchanged.  Weekend getaway, $100.00 to $200.00 is sufficient.
• Your personal dive gear: dive bag, mask, fins, snorkel, booties and bathing suits. Also, open  water pack: Slate, whistle, defog, gloves and save a dive kit.
• If you are allergic to bees, wasps or anything else, bring your allergic reaction kits.
• All divers and snorklers are required to have full body protection.  The Sea of  Cortez has jellyfish, Portuguese man-o-war and stinging hydroids.  Although a long sleeve shirt and  lightweight pants will work, we recommend a dive skin as it is comfortable and also protects  against sunburn.  No one will be allowed in the water without full body coverage.
• There are a wide variety of restaurants in San Carlos.  Most of them accept Visa and MasterCard, however it is wise to make sure you have a good supply of cash or pesos in case they don't.  Everything is charged in pesos and dollars are given pesos for change.  For ease of figuring the costs of your meals it's highly recommended that you bring pesos. 
• Tipping:  As in the US you need to leave a tip when eating out.  10% is considered the proper amount in Mexico.  Tipping our staff is greatly appreciated.   $ 15.00 a day per person is customary.  Please give tip to our trip leader - He/She will see that tip money is distributed equally - there are many unseen individuals who worked hard to make your trip a good one.
